Mike Weatherley MP and Simon Kirby MP welcomed the Home Affairs Select Committee to Brighton & Hove.
The Select Committee was invited to Brighton Town Hall to hear evidence from local language schools about changes to student visas.
English language schools contribute £105 million to the City’s economy and £150 million to Sussex as a whole. Mike said, “We need a practical solution to changes in immigration legislation. We don’t want to throw out the baby with the bathwater. English Language schools are a key economic issue in Brighton & Hove.”
Simon Kirby said, “I welcome the committee’s interest in Brighton & Hove. We need to provide stability to bona fide schools and ensure we do not risk the livelihoods of many businesses in the area. This is a matter I have consistently championed since being elected MP for Brighton Kemptown.”
