Mike has launched the Angel of Mine campaign in order to raise £20,000 for Keep a Child Alive, an HIV/AIDS charity.
At the launch at Pop Bar last night, Mike kick-started the campaign that Brighton & Hove resident Louis Brown set up, with help from Pamoja (A Brighton-based health and development consultancy), to raise £20,000 by selling the Angle of Mine single. The song was written by Louis Brown as a tribute after losing a close friend. It is available now to download from Amazon.co.uk and iTunes.
Keep a Child Alive – www.keepachildalive.org – provides treatment, care and support to children living in Uganda, Rwanda, South Africa, Kenya and India with HIV/AIDS. Although there is currently no cure for AIDS, for those who get access to this treatment it can mean the difference between life and death. However, despite the availability of these life-saving drugs, only around one-third of the people who need them have access to them.
Commenting, Mike said: “I am pleased that the opening night got off to such a great start, raising over £1000 through raffle ticket sales. I will certainly be buying a copy of the single and will encourage friends and family to do the same for such a good cause. Louis should be proud for organising something that will really make a difference to vulnerable children.”
