Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, and member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Justice for Equitable Life Policy Holders, has signed a letter to Treasury Minister Mark Hoban MP outlining a number of concerns.
Following a recent meeting with Equitable Members’ Action Group (EMAG), it was reported to the APPG that there is widespread dissatisfaction amongst members. Many policyholders are only now realising how limited the compensation is that they will receive. Other policyholders are frustrated that they have yet to receive any communication from the scheme nearly one year after compensation payments started. The letter in full is available here.
Commenting, Mike said: “I know that many residents remain unhappy with the organisation and speed of the compensation. This letter rightly highlights the concerns that a large number of my colleagues and I have that we are now bringing to the attention of the Treasury.”
