Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, is backing Katy Bourne, the newly selected Conservative Candidate for Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner, whose top priorities are best for Sussex.
Katy Bourne was selected by Conservative Party members on Saturday 14th July to stand as the Conservative Candidate for the forthcoming Police & Crime Commissioner elections on Thursday 15th November. Katy is a successful businesswoman, School Governor and District Councillor in Mid Sussex, who is married and has two grown-up children.
Commenting, Mike said: “I am confident that Katy will make an excellent Police & Crime Commissioner. Katy’s priorities of cutting crime, improving detection rates, putting victims back at the heart of the Criminal Justice System, tackling anti-social behaviour and delivering value for money from our police force, are all issues that will make our county a safer place.“
Mike added: “It is important that residents across Sussex take part in the election in November. The Government has given these important powers to a directly accountable public figure. It is therefore in everyone’s interest to have their say on the direction and future of crime prevention in Sussex.”
Commenting, Katy said, “I am absolutely delighted to have been selected as the Conservative candidate for the role of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner. I have put myself forward for this role because I care about our community and because I believe that every resident of Sussex has a right to feel safe on the streets and in their own home.”
Katy added, “My priorities are to cut crime and ensure visible and effective neighbourhood policing. I also want to put the victim back at the heart of the Criminal Justice System and tackle domestic violence and the anti-social behaviour that too often blights our communities.”
