Mike has praised the minimal inconvenience faced by commuters due to the smooth running of the Olympics so far.
Transport bosses were preparing the public for the worst case scenario which has failed to materialise. In the run up to the Olympic Games, Mike was contacted by a number of constituents who were concerned that the Olympics would severely impact on travel to and from work. However, commuters have reported that journeys are generally unaffected and in some cases even quieter than usual.
Commenting, Mike said: “I am really pleased to see that our transport infrastructure is coping so well at this important time. Commuters and others who travel in London have clearly heeded advice to take an alternative route or stay away if they can. So far the Olympics have been a tremendous success, which is something that as a nation should make us proud.”
