Mike Weatherley, Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, and Simon Kirby, Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown are delighted that so many senior Conservatives, including Policing Minister and fellow Sussex MP, Nick Herbert, are to join this year’s Pride Parade.
Simon said: “I am looking forward to taking part in this year’s Pride Parade, which is a wonderful celebration of our city’s diversity. I am proud to represent a constituency with a significant LGBT population and back the Government in supporting equal marriage.”
The recently selected Conservative candidate for Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne will also attend the parade, where it is expected there will be more senior Conservative politicians taking part than any other Party.
Mike added: “It’s really encouraging that so many conservatives – including one of our Ministers – will be out in support at this year’s Brighton & Hove Pride. Walking in the parade last year was a fantastic experience and I am delighted that this year we have even more to be proud of, with the Government’s official support for marriage for same-sex couples.”
