Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has praised local students on their improvements on this year’s GCSE results over last year.
Pupils across Brighton & Hove managed to boost their A*-C results to 56% this year, up from 52.8% last year. This bucked the national trend for GCSE results, where A*-C grades saw a fall for the first time since the exams were introduced 24 years ago.
Commenting, Mike said: “These are excellent results and it is encouraging that there has been a marked improvement on what was achieved last year in Brighton & Hove. As a parent, I know just how stressful results day can be, but hopefully most people got the grades that they expected and will enjoy a well deserved celebration.”
