Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade, has written to his colleague the Secretary of State for Transport about new EU rules that could make it practically impossible for modified cars to be allowed on British roads.
Having been contacted by a Hove resident about the new EU legislation, Mike wrote to his colleague the Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP, Secretary of State for Transport, to raise his concerns, as well as those of his constituent, over the meddling EU legislation. Mike has now received a reply from the Department for Transport which outlines their position.
Commenting, Mike said: “It’s legislation like this that reinforces the negative view that people have of the EU. I wrote to the Secretary of State for Transport to highlight my concerns and those raised by a vigilant resident. I was pleased to hear in the response that I received from the Department for Transport that the Government is assessing the proposals, which it will have a chance to negotiate on and have also been reassured that Ministry is liaising closely with the motor industry.”
